Bitget Wallet Hits 100 Million Users, Nigeria Leads Stablecoin Adoption
Bitget Wallet has reached 100 million users globally, with Nigeria playing a significant role in stablecoin adoption across sub-Saharan Africa. The company reported that more than half of its global users are based in Southeast Asia, South Asia, Africa, and Latin America, where customers increasingly use the wallet to hold dollar-denominated stablecoins and receive cross-border payments.
The development comes as a June 2026 International Monetary Fund report showed that Nigeria received about $59 billion in crypto-asset inflows between July 2023 and June 2024 and accounted for roughly 60% of stablecoin inflows into sub-Saharan Africa since 2019. The IMF noted that Nigeria ranked second globally on Chainalysis' 2024 Global Crypto Adoption Index and sixth in 2025.
According to the Fund, dollar-pegged stablecoins have become an important cross-border payment channel in Nigeria, helping to lower transaction costs and speed up remittances for users facing exchange rate volatility and limited access to foreign exchange. Bitget Wallet's Chief Operating Officer Alvin Kan said that users in markets such as Nigeria increasingly view stablecoins as everyday financial tools rather than cryptocurrency investments.
