Bitget Wallet Joins Japan's Blockchain Collaborative Consortium Amid Crypto Regulatory Shift
Bitget Wallet has become a member of Japan's Blockchain Collaborative Consortium (BCCC), joining over 270 blockchain companies. This move comes as Japan implements new crypto service rules that emphasize the distinction between custodial and self-custodial platforms.
The consortium aims to engage in discussions on self-custody, wallet standards, DeFi regulation, and stablecoins. Bitget Wallet, serving over 100 million users and supporting 130+ blockchains, aims to contribute global experience to Japan's evolving regulatory framework.
Meanwhile, Bitget's centralized exchange is withdrawing from Japan due to regulatory warnings, highlighting the differing regulatory treatment between custodial exchanges and self-custodial wallets.
