Bitget Wallet's Assetback Rewards Program Integrates Payments and Investments
Bitget Wallet has launched Assetback, a card rewards program that lets users earn up to 3% cash-back in selected digital assets. The rewards can include Bitcoin, tokenized gold, and tokenized U.S. stocks. This new product combines several areas of crypto: payments, rewards, tokenized assets, and self-custodial wallets.
Assetback extends the traditional card reward model by allowing users to select exposure to digital assets and tokenized markets with their everyday spending. This may appeal to users who want to turn their card activity into a broader portfolio investment.
The pitch is simple: your card rewards become investable assets. However, it's essential to understand what you're receiving if tokenized U.S. stocks are part of the reward. Tokenized equities can vary in terms of rights, restrictions, custody structure, settlement mechanics, jurisdiction, and redemption process.
The launch shows how wallet providers are trying to move closer to daily payments. Bitget Wallet wants to become an interface for spending, saving, investing, and moving value, making it more central to a user's financial life.
