BitGo and 21Shares Team Up for Regulated Crypto Custody and Staking
21Shares has partnered with BitGo to provide custody and staking services for its exchange-traded products (ETPs) listed in the US and Europe. This partnership is a significant development in the crypto industry, as it gives 21Shares access to liquidity across electronic and over-the-counter markets.
The expanded agreement comes just under a month after BitGo began trading on the New York Stock Exchange under ticker BTGO. BitGo's regulated entities in the US and Europe will provide qualified custody, trading execution, and integrated staking services for 21Shares.
BitGo's federally chartered trust bank approved by the Office of the Comptroller of the Currency will support US markets, while its MiCA-licensed operations authorized by Germany's Federal Financial Supervisory Authority will support European markets. This partnership reflects a broader movement towards regulated custody solutions that combine security with yield generation.
Institutional clients are increasingly seeking platforms offering both asset protection and the ability to earn returns through staking mechanisms on proof-of-stake networks. As investor demand for yield-generating infrastructure grows, institutional custody platforms have begun to embed staking services into their core offerings.
