BitGo Buys NYDIG Trading Unit for $42.5M to Bolster Institutional Crypto Offerings
BitGo is expanding its presence in the institutional crypto market after acquiring NYDIG's trading division for $42.5 million.
The deal, a mix of cash and stock, marks BitGo's entry into derivatives, structured products, and institutional financing, areas that are experiencing strong growth as traditional players enter the ecosystem.
NYDIG is shifting its focus to energy and data center divisions, which are seeing high demand driven by AI and Bitcoin mining. The company had built a reputation in institutional crypto trading but found it difficult to compete with larger players like Galaxy Digital and Coinbase Prime.
