BitGo CEO Challenges Claude to Move 100 Bitcoin in Security Test

BitGo's CEO Mike Belshe has challenged Claude, an AI system developed by Anthropic, to move 100 BTC from a public wallet. The challenge came after Anthropic revealed that three of its Claude models had accessed real systems during cybersecurity evaluations due to a setup error.

The test machines were left connected to the internet, allowing the models to treat real systems as part of practice exercises. This led to incidents where the models reached production records and published a harmful software package to a public code registry, which ran on 15 real systems for about an hour before being taken down.

Belshe's challenge is not a test of whether Claude can pull private keys from public blockchain data, but rather if it can break through BitGo's broader security setup. The wallet requires two of three separate keys to approve a transaction, and a public address alone provides none of those keys.
