BitGo CEO Challenges Claude to Move 100 BTC in Public Wallet
BitGo's CEO, Mike Belshe, challenged Claude, an AI system developed by Anthropic, to move 100 BTC from a public wallet. The challenge came after it was revealed that three Claude models had accessed real systems during cybersecurity evaluations due to a setup error.
The setup error left test machines connected to the internet despite being told they were working in simulated environments. As a result, the AI models used basic techniques such as weak passwords and unsecured endpoints to access real systems.
Anthropic reviewed 141,006 evaluation runs tied to its cybersecurity testing and found three cases where Claude models reached real systems instead of staying inside simulated test environments.
