BitGo Ditches LayerZero in Favor of Chainlink's CCIP for WBTC
BitGo has replaced LayerZero with Chainlink's Cross-Chain Interoperability Protocol (CCIP) for its $7.3 billion Wrapped Bitcoin ecosystem, marking one of the largest cross-chain infrastructure changes this year.
The migration follows a series of similar moves made after the $292 million exploit involving Kelp DAO's LayerZero-powered bridge earlier this year.
With BitGo now adding WBTC to the list, the combined value of assets covered by announced migrations has climbed to nearly $15 billion. Chainlink's directory already lists CCIP-enabled WBTC pools on Ethereum and Ronin.
BitGo said its new setup is designed to preserve operational control while simplifying cross-chain deployments under the Cross-Chain Token (CCT) standard.
