Bitgo Ditches Legacy Infrastructure for Chainlink CCIP
Bitgo has announced that it will shift its Wrapped Bitcoin (WBTC) infrastructure to Chainlink's Cross-Chain Interoperability Protocol (CCIP) in a move aimed at enhancing security and standardization.
This change will ensure that all future Bitgo-issued digital assets use the same cross-chain framework, reducing the need for multiple infrastructure platforms and improving operational efficiency.
The decision to switch to Chainlink CCIP comes after an analysis of various factors, including the company's security architecture, institutional compliance standards, and built-in risk controls.
According to Bitgo, each CCIP bridge route is supported by at least 16 independent node operators spread across different organizations, geographic regions, and hosting providers, reducing the likelihood of a single failure or coordinated attack.
