BitGo Expands Institutional Crypto Platform with NYDIG Acquisition
BitGo, a leading provider of digital asset infrastructure, has announced that it will acquire NYDIG's institutional trading arm. This move marks a significant expansion of BitGo's platform, which now offers custody, trading, settlement, and financing services to institutional clients.
The acquisition includes approximately 250 client relationships and 30 employees from NYDIG's trading unit. These additions will enable BitGo to offer derivatives, structured products, and financing solutions to its clients, making it a more comprehensive provider of institutional crypto infrastructure.
According to BitGo CEO Mike Belshe, institutions are seeking providers that can offer holistic services for the full lifecycle of digital assets, from custody to trading, financing, and settlement. The acquisition is expected to help retain client funds and trading activity on BitGo's platform, as clients no longer need to work with multiple providers.
NYDIG will focus its resources on vertically integrated power generation, Bitcoin mining, and high-performance computing data centers. The company has announced that it will develop over 3 gigawatts of power generation capacity by 2027 and 2028.
