BitGo Migrates $7.3B Wrapped Bitcoin to Chainlink's Cross-Chain Interoperability Protocol
BitGo has transitioned $7.3 billion in wrapped Bitcoin (WBTC) cross-chain operations from LayerZero to Chainlink's Cross-Chain Interoperability Protocol (CCIP). This move establishes Chainlink as the sole interoperability solution for WBTC, with a cumulative value of approximately $15 billion in disclosed migrations.
The transition will allow BitGo to maintain direct oversight of token contracts, rate limits, and operational controls. The company will also implement Chainlink's CCT standard for all future token deployments and cross-chain operations. This unified framework enables consistent governance and transfer parameters across multiple blockchain ecosystems.
Chainlink's CCIP has gained momentum following a $292 million security breach affecting Kelp DAO's LayerZero-integrated bridge earlier this year. Multiple organizations have since adopted Chainlink infrastructure for multi-network token operations, further solidifying its position in the industry.
