BitGo has announced that it will migrate over $7.7 billion in Wrapped Bitcoin (WBTC) to Chainlink's Cross-Chain Interoperability Protocol (CCIP). This move makes Chainlink the exclusive provider of cross-chain infrastructure for WBTC, one of the largest tokenized representations of Bitcoin on smart contract-enabled blockchains.

The migration is significant because it underscores the increasing demand for secure cross-chain communication as decentralized finance continues to expand across multiple blockchain networks. Chainlink's CCIP enables developers to transfer tokens and execute smart contract instructions across multiple supported blockchains through a unified infrastructure.

BitGo has chosen Chainlink due to its confidence in the protocol's architecture, operational reliability, and expanding blockchain compatibility. The partnership illustrates how institutional cryptocurrency infrastructure continues evolving beyond simple custody services, with financial institutions requiring secure interoperability connecting multiple blockchain ecosystems.
