Bithumb Aims for 2028 IPO as Part of Transparency Efforts
South Korean cryptocurrency exchange Bithumb has set its sights on going public by 2028, as part of a broader effort to increase corporate transparency and strengthen customer trust in the country's virtual asset industry.
The company plans to complete an initial public offering (IPO) in 2028 after upgrading its internal controls and transitioning to the Korean International Financial Reporting Standards during 2026. Bithumb will then submit an application for preliminary listing approval in 2027, with a potential IPO timeline subject to market conditions and regulatory review.
The exchange is working to bring its accounting, governance, and risk management systems in line with those of listed financial companies, including separating its asset management division from the exchange business. Bithumb also aims to reduce its exposure to crypto market volatility by diversifying its business model and maintaining sufficient liquid assets.
