Bithumb Eyes 2028 IPO Amid Corporate Restructuring and Regulatory Scrutiny
Bithumb, a major South Korean cryptocurrency exchange, has outlined plans to go public by 2028. The company aims to complete an initial public offering (IPO) after undergoing corporate restructuring and strengthening internal controls.
The exchange will pursue a preliminary listing review in 2027, with the IPO scheduled for 2028. This comes as Bithumb seeks to clarify responsibilities across its business units and reduce potential conflicts of interest ahead of regulatory scrutiny.
As part of its preparations, Bithumb plans to upgrade internal control systems and switch to K-IFRS from domestic accounting standards. The exchange also cautioned that its timetable is not guaranteed, citing the impact of 'market conditions' and review schedules of relevant authorities on the listing process.
