Bithumb Secures Second Court Win in Ongoing Battle over Miscredited BTC
Bithumb has secured its second court victory in an ongoing battle to recover funds from users who were mistakenly credited with 620,000 BTC during a February marketing event.
The Seoul Central District Court ruled that one of the defendants should repay around 194 million won for their mistake in selling Bitcoins. This is Bithumb's second win out of four civil lawsuits against users involved in the incident.
The mistake occurred when an employee incorrectly credited BTC instead of Korean won, leading to a sudden surge in market activity and a subsequent investigation by South Korean regulators.
Bithumb plans to continue fighting to recover its losses through other legal processes. The exchange has also announced plans for an initial public offering (IPO) in 2028.
