Bithumb Sets Sights on 2028 Public Listing Amid Restructuring Efforts
Bithumb, South Korea's second-largest cryptocurrency exchange, has set its sights on going public by 2028. The company plans to undergo a preliminary listing review in 2027 before making its initial public offering (IPO) the following year.
The move is part of Bithumb's efforts to improve transparency, governance, and market trust ahead of stricter public-market standards. The exchange is restructuring its business after a February crediting error disrupted Bitcoin trading operations, causing a 17% price drop on its platform.
Bithumb will transition to K-IFRS accounting standards, which will support clearer financial reporting and stronger disclosure practices. The company also plans to strengthen internal controls and compliance systems before the listing review.
