Bithumb Suspends SEI Deposits Ahead of Upcoming Network Upgrade
Bithumb, a South Korean cryptocurrency exchange, has announced that it will temporarily suspend SEI token deposits and withdrawals on August 4 at 9:00 a.m. UTC to support an upcoming Sei network upgrade.
The suspension is a standard precautionary measure during network upgrades to ensure that transactions are not lost or processed incorrectly during the transition.
SEI is a layer-1 blockchain designed specifically for trading applications, aiming to offer high throughput and low latency. Network upgrades are part of its ongoing development roadmap, often introducing performance improvements, new features, or security enhancements.
For active traders on Bithumb, the suspension means that SEI deposits and withdrawals will be unavailable for a period, potentially affecting arbitrage strategies or the ability to move tokens to other wallets or exchanges. However, trading of SEI against other pairs on Bithumb is not affected, and the token remains tradable during the upgrade window.
