Bithumb Wins Court Case Over Accidental Bitcoin Transfer

Bithumb has won a court case related to the accidental transfer of over 620,000 BTC in February 2026. The exchange promptly suspended operations and recovered 99.7% of the lost assets.

The court ordered one defendant to return approximately $140,500 in unlawfully obtained profit. This decision was based on Article 741 of the Civil Code of South Korea, which requires the return of benefits obtained without legal grounds if it has caused losses to another party.
