Bithumb has won its first court rulings in a series of cases to reclaim bitcoin mistakenly paid out during a customer event in February. The company successfully recovered funds from two users, identified as A and another individual, through unjust enrichment suits filed against them.

The Seoul Central District Court ruled in favor of Bithumb on August 26th and 27th, ordering the return of 194 million won (approximately $150,000 USD) and 4.99 million won (approximately $3,700 USD), respectively. The cases proceeded through public notice service due to difficulties in delivering court papers.

This incident led to stronger internal controls at virtual asset exchanges, with the Financial Services Commission proposing system improvements requiring always-on balance reconciliation and automated verification procedures for transactions involving manual intervention.
