Bithumb Wins Two Court Rulings in Bitcoin Recovery Cases
Bithumb has won two court cases in its efforts to recover Bitcoin from users who sold the cryptocurrency after it was mistakenly sent to them.
The Seoul Central District Court ruled in favor of Bithumb on both Wednesday and Thursday, with one case worth approximately $140,000 and the other around $3,600.
This is part of a larger effort by Bithumb to recover 1,788 BTC that was sold before it froze accounts related to an accounting error in February 2026.
The mistake occurred when an employee accidentally chose Bitcoin as the reward instead of Korean won for a promotion event, resulting in the distribution of 620,000 BTC to users.
