Bithumb's BICO Supply Figures Raise Data Integrity Concerns
A data discrepancy on South Korean cryptocurrency exchange Bithumb has raised concerns about the accuracy of token supply figures displayed to users. The issue surrounds Biconomy's (BICO) listing, where its total supply is shown as 1 billion tokens, while its circulating supply is listed as 1,000,242,811 tokens.
This discrepancy has sparked debate within the crypto community about data integrity and transparency. In standard tokenomics, circulating supply refers to the number of tokens available for trading in the market, whereas total supply represents the maximum number of tokens that exist, including locked or reserved tokens.
The exact cause of the issue remains unclear, with neither Bithumb nor the Biconomy team issuing an official statement. However, this incident highlights broader concerns about exchange-listed data and its potential impact on traders' decisions.
