BitMart Announces Gradual Closure, Following BitMEX and Bit.com
BitMart, a historic cryptocurrency exchange, has announced its gradual closure. The platform cited an evaluation of its operating conditions and market environment as reasons for this decision.
The closure schedule is set to last several months, with new registrations, deposits, and orders halted as early as July 26, 2026. By August 26, trading services will cease, and users are advised to close positions by then.
BitMart's CEO, Nenter (Nathan) Chow, stated that his employment contract was terminated on July 24, 2026, a day before the closure announcement. He claimed he had no involvement in the platform's decision-making process since then and discovered the closure plan publicly at the same time as everyone else.
This marks the third significant exchange to announce its closure, following BitMEX and Bit.com. The three platforms have chosen a gradual closure schedule, allowing users to withdraw their assets before the definitive stop of services. The BMX token has seen a 60% drop in value within 24 hours of the announcement.
