BitMart Announces Orderly Wind-Down, Shutdown by January 31
BitMart, a major cryptocurrency exchange, has announced its orderly wind-down, effectively shutting down trading and operations by January 31, 2027. The platform has suspended new registrations and deposits since July 26, 2026, at 01:30 UTC. Trading will cease on August 26, 2026, at 01:00 UTC.
Users are advised to close positions and submit withdrawal requests by August 26, 2026, but be aware that withdrawals can be manually reviewed under KYC, Travel Rule, and sanctions screening, which may delay their execution.
The BMX token, BitMart's exchange token, has taken a hit, selling off around 46% on the announcement day. The core risk for BMX is utility evaporation as the platform's trading and operations cease. There are no credible migration plans or repurposing of the token's mechanics in sight.
Users should prioritize exiting cleanly by focusing on unlocking and moving assets to a secure destination. A checklist includes closing open orders, completing KYC, consolidating dust tokens, whitelisting destination addresses, exporting account statements, and documenting withdrawals and tax lots.
