BitMart Considers Reversing Shutdown Plan After Hiring Restructuring Advisors
BitMart, a cryptocurrency exchange, is exploring a possible restructuring plan after announcing its permanent shutdown on January 31, 2027. The news comes just one month after the exchange announced the complete cessation of its activities on July 26, 2026.
The company has hired restructuring legal advisor firm White & Case to guide the process and will publish a roadmap with next steps no later than September 9, 2026. BitMart is also committed to distributing funds to creditors as part of the plan.
The exchange's closure announcement triggered panic among users, many of whom attempted to withdraw their funds without success. The situation was further complicated by the resignation of Chief Product Officer Terence Lee and the removal of CEO Nathan Chow without his knowledge.
