BitMart Shifts Focus to Restructuring Amid User Frustration
BitMart has shifted its focus from shutting down to restructuring, but this development has left users with more questions than answers. The exchange announced that it is working on a potential recovery plan, which could allow some services to return in stages while creditors receive distributions.
The plan still needs legal, financial, operational, and regulatory review. To help with the process, BitMart has hired White & Case as its restructuring counsel. However, users are more concerned about withdrawals than any potential restructuring.
Despite the exchange's announcement of an orderly wind-down on July 26, including plans to stop new registrations and deposits, users want clear details about customer assets, available reserves, where the funds go, and when they can access their funds. BitMart has asked retail users to submit their crypto withdrawal requests by August 26.
The final platform closure is set for January 31, 2027, unless the plan changes. Users are growing impatient as more details about the restructuring plan will not be shared until September 9, 2026.
