BitMart Shuts Down Amid Market Shakeout
BitMart has announced it will cease operations after nearly eight years in business. The exchange cited 'operating conditions, market environment and future strategic direction' as reasons for its shutdown.
The move marks the third crypto exchange to close this month, with BitMart's native token BMX plummeting over 55% in the past 24 hours.
Industry observers say the rash of exchange closures is part of a broader shakeout, where weaker platforms are struggling to survive in a more competitive market. According to Simon Dedic, Founder and Managing Partner at Moonrock Capital, 'the mid-tier exchange model has a fatal flaw' as it requires a constant flow of new users.
