BitMart Winds Down Operations Amid Phased Shutdown
The cryptocurrency exchange BitMart has announced that it will cease operations on January 31, 2027. The phased shutdown began on July 26, 2026, when new registrations, deposits, and trading orders were suspended.
Users are advised to review their account balances, complete identity verification, and submit withdrawal requests before August 26, 2026. Withdrawals may be delayed due to manual reviews, particularly for compliance checks such as identity verification, login and IP reviews, and source-of-funds questions.
The exchange experienced a security breach in December 2021, where hackers stole approximately $196 million worth of assets operating on Ethereum and BNB Smart Chain. BitMart temporarily suspended withdrawals while investigating the breach and strengthening its wallet infrastructure.
