BitMart's Wind-Down Triggers Ethereum Withdrawal Surge

Ethereum withdrawals from BitMart have surged to their highest level since July 2025 after the exchange resumed ETH withdrawals following a wind-down announcement. The move has added to a wave of shutdowns in 2026, including derivatives exchange BitMEX and decentralized exchange Dango.

The surge in Ethereum withdrawals tracks closely with BitMart's own shutdown timeline. Registrations, deposits, and new trading orders paused on July 26, while full trading services end on August 26. Withdrawals will remain open through January 2027, giving users a narrow window to retrieve their holdings.

Analysts are reading these closures as a healthy correction rather than a warning sign for the broader market. Smaller exchanges carrying similar liquidity problems may face pressure to consolidate or close before the year is out.
