BitMEX Announces Permanent Closure on September 23, 2026
BitMEX, a cryptocurrency derivatives exchange, has announced its permanent closure on September 23, 2026 at 04:00 UTC. The exchange will stop new account registrations immediately and switch to reduce-only trading from August 26, 2026 at 04:00 UTC.
Users are advised to withdraw all assets and close or reduce open positions before the closure time. Any positions left at the deadline will be force-closed, and some may be closed earlier to manage risk. KYC-verified users who don't withdraw in time face a monthly account fee of $50 or 1% per annum, whichever is greater.
To withdraw safely, users should confirm their email, password, and 2FA are working properly, verify their KYC status, close or reduce open positions, decide on the destination wallet and network, run a small test withdrawal before sending the full balance, and be cautious of scams during the wind-down process.
