BitMEX Co-Founder Arthur Hayes Sells ETH at Loss Amid Market Volatility
Arthur Hayes, co-founder of BitMEX, has sold a portion of his Ethereum holdings at a loss. The sale of 2,364.38 ETH through Cumberland and Galaxy Digital trading desks resulted in a realized loss of approximately $241,000.
The average price per ETH was around $1,821, which is a decline of roughly 5.3% from the purchase price of $1,923. Hayes had accumulated 7,213 ETH at an average purchase price of $1,923, totaling around $13.87 million.
The sale through established institutional trading desks suggests a deliberate and measured approach, rather than a rushed liquidation. This move comes amid ongoing volatility in the cryptocurrency market, where Ethereum and other digital assets have faced significant price swings.
Hayes' decision to sell at a loss could be interpreted in several ways. It may reflect a short-term bearish outlook, a need for liquidity, or a strategic rebalancing of his portfolio.
