BitMEX Sets Contracts to 'Reduce Only' Mode Ahead of September 16 Delisting
BitMEX has announced that it will start setting some of its contracts to 'Reduce Only' mode starting from September 7, 2026. This means that traders will no longer be able to increase their positions in these contracts and can only reduce them. The exception is for designated market makers who need to continue providing liquidity.
The contracts affected by this change are ETHUSDU26, XBTU26, XBTZ26, XBTH27, ETHUSD, and ETHUSDT. They will be set to 'Reduce Only' mode at the following times: ETHUSDU26, XBTU26, and XBTZ26 on September 7, 2026; ETHUSD and ETHUSDT on September 8, 2026; and XBTUSD and XBTUSDT on September 10, 2026.
On September 16, 2026, at 12:00 UTC, BitMEX will delist and settle all remaining derivatives contracts. The Perpetual Swap contracts will be settled early according to the standard practice described in the Exchange Guide.
