BitMEX Settles All Derivatives Ahead of Shutdown

BitMEX has settled all 35 listed derivatives on its platform, marking another step towards its planned shutdown. As of July 30, at 12:00 UTC, all contracts were closed, and open orders were canceled.

The exchange cited insufficient trading interest and its upcoming closure as reasons for the delistings. BitMEX described this process as an early settlement, rather than a margin liquidation. No settlement fee was charged to users, but their lifetime profit or loss from each contract was added to their Bitcoin or Tether balance.

Users will be able to reduce positions starting August 26, and the exchange may force-close remaining positions before shutting down on September 23. Any position left open at closure will be automatically closed, although users can still access their account to view balances and withdraw funds.
