BitMEX Sued for Alleged Theft and Insider Trading

A proposed class-action lawsuit has been filed against BitMEX, accusing the exchange of theft and insider trading. The plaintiffs claim that BitMEX's liquidation system was designed to take Bitcoin from customers and that an internal trading operation used confidential customer information.

The suit alleges that two customers lost a combined 622.66 BTC through forced liquidations. BitMEX has denied the allegations, saying it will vigorously defend itself.

The lawsuit follows a similar case in 2025, which ended without a ruling on the underlying liquidation claims. The plaintiffs are seeking the return of the Bitcoin they say was improperly retained, along with compensatory and punitive damages.
