BitMEX, one of the pioneering crypto exchanges, will shut down its operations on September 23, 2026. The exchange has been in operation for 11 years and was instrumental in shaping modern Bitcoin trading.

According to HDR Global Trading Limited, the owner and operator of BitMEX, the decision to close the exchange was made after a strategic review of the business and the broader crypto industry.

The company stopped all new account registrations immediately and is urging users to manage their open trades and remove assets before operations end. The final closure will occur on September 23 at 04:00 UTC.
