BitMEX to Shut Down Operations on September 23
BitMEX, a prominent crypto derivatives exchange co-founded by Arthur Hayes in 2014, has announced plans to permanently shut down its operations on September 23. The move follows a strategic business review, with HDR Global Trading Limited, the company's owner and operator, deciding that shutting down is in the best interest of the business.
The exchange will stop accepting new user registrations immediately and trading will officially end at 04:00 UTC on September 23. BitMEX has urged customers to close any open positions and withdraw their assets before the shutdown date, assuring them that customer funds remain safe throughout the process.
BitMEX has been a major player in the crypto market for over 11 years, introducing popular products such as perpetual swaps, which have since become widely traded among exchanges. The company takes pride in its security record, stating it never lost customer funds to hackers during its operation.
