BitMEX Winds Down: Four Deadlines Set for Users as Closure Approaches
BitMEX has announced its closure and is now in the process of winding down. The exchange was founded in 2014 and introduced perpetual swaps, which have become a widely traded instrument in the crypto industry.
The four deadlines for BitMEX users to take action are August 26 at 04:00 UTC, when risk limits will be imposed; September 2 at 12:00 UTC, when eleven perpetual swaps will be settled early; and September 23 at 04:00 UTC, when trading will cease completely.
After the closure date, users can still access their accounts to view their balances and initiate withdrawals, but a monthly account fee will apply. The company has announced that it will no longer provide trading services after Closure Time on September 23, 2026, at 04:00:00 UTC.
