BitMine Buys $70 Million in Ethereum Amid Bullish Outlook
BitMine Immersion Technologies has significantly boosted its Ethereum holdings by purchasing 28,086 ETH worth around $70.1 million. This acquisition brings the company's total Etherium treasury to 5.93 million tokens, making it the world's largest corporate ETH treasury and second-largest cryptocurrency treasury overall.
According to Chairman Tom Lee, this purchase is part of the company's strategy to own 5% of Ethereum's supply, a goal it calls the 'Alchemy of 5%'. BitMine has already acquired 53,501 ETH in previous weeks, taking its balance to 5,901,112 tokens. The company now controls approximately 4.9% of all Ethereum tokens.
Lee remains bullish on Ethereum and other large cryptocurrencies, citing several potential market catalysts including the CLARITY Act, tokenization, and blockchain-based AI agents. He expects these factors to increase the use of Ethereum compared to Bitcoin, predicting that Etherium will outperform its counterpart in the current market cycle.
