Bitmine Doubles Down on Ethereum with Massive Staking Play
Bitmine, a prominent cryptocurrency mining and treasury management firm, has made a significant expansion to its Ethereum holdings. Over the past week, the company acquired an additional 7,391 ETH, bringing its total Ethereum stash to 5,805,238 ETH.
This represents approximately 4.8% of the entire ETH supply, making Bitmine one of the largest institutional holders of Ethereum. The company's strategic emphasis on staking underscores a broader trend among institutional players seeking to derive yield from their digital assets rather than holding them passively.
According to current market rates, Bitmine expects to generate approximately $257 million in annual staking revenue from its 5,067,309 ETH stake. This significant revenue stream highlights the growing institutionalization of cryptocurrency markets and raises questions about concentration risk and potential impact on Ethereum's decentralized ethos.
