BitMine Drops $131M on Ethereum, Boosts Corporate Treasury
BitMine, a publicly traded company, has bolstered its corporate crypto treasury by acquiring 53,501 Ethereum (ETH) for approximately $131 million.
This significant purchase brings Ethereum more firmly into focus as a reserve asset for listed companies. Historically, corporate treasuries have centered on Bitcoin due to its fixed supply and deep institutional liquidity.
However, BitMine's move is part of a broader shift in which public companies are exploring crypto reserves beyond the traditional Bitcoin-only strategy.
Ethereum presents a different proposition, supporting stablecoins, decentralized finance, tokenized assets, NFTs, Layer 2 networks, and smart contracts, giving companies exposure to infrastructure as well as a digital asset.
