Bitmine Nears 5% ETH Target as Ethereum Price Fluctuates
Bitmine, a Connecticut-based company founded by Tom Lee, has made significant purchases of Ethereum (ETH) in recent weeks. As of August 30th, its holdings totaled around $15.6 billion, with 5,901,112 ETH representing roughly 4.9% of the Ethereum network's circulating tokens.
The company acquired another 53,501 ETH over the past week, maintaining its buying streak that began on June 30th. This brings Bitmine closer to Lee's 'Alchemy of 5%' target range, with approximately 98% of the necessary amount secured.
Ethereum's price has been fluctuating, trading near $2,450 per coin after a 30% surge from August 18th to 19th. The move has positively impacted Bitmine's share price, which climbed roughly 38% in August alongside ether's price rise.
