Bitmine Purchases $68M Worth of Ethereum, Closes In on 6% Supply Milestone
Bitmine, Inc., listed as BMNR, continues to aggressively expand its Ethereum holdings. The company has acquired an additional 27,180 ETH in the past week, bringing its total position to 5.96 million ETH. This latest acquisition has moved Bitmine closer to its stated goal of holding 6% of the entire Ethereum supply, with approximately $68 million spent on these new tokens at a price of around $2,500 per token.
The company's Chairman and Fundstrat founder Tom Lee believes that this move is part of an upward trend in the ETH-BTC valuation ratio. According to Lee, this ratio has reached its strongest point since January 30th this year, ending a multi-year downward pattern established in 2022. This shift is attributed to Ethereum's growing role as foundational infrastructure for Wall Street's tokenization initiatives and its potential application in governing autonomous AI systems.
Bitmine also continues to generate significant revenue through staking operations. The company has committed over 5 million ETH to staking via its MAVAN infrastructure, with management forecasting annual staking income of hundreds of millions of dollars from this substantial position. Additionally, the company's combined assets now reach $15.8 billion, driven primarily by its 5.96 million ETH stake.
