Bitminter Founder Transfers Dormant Holdings Amid Market Volatility
Geir Harald Hansen, the founder of Bitminter, one of Bitcoin's earliest mining pools, has transferred a significant amount of his holdings. According to crypto analyst Emmett Gallic, a wallet linked to Hansen moved 829 BTC from its dormant address that had remained inactive for approximately eight years.
Bitminter was at its peak when it accounted for nearly 10% of the network's total mining power and mined 208,232 BTC. The transaction occurred while Bitcoin traded below $65,000, with a price of $64,549 at the time of writing. Over the past seven days, the cryptocurrency had experienced a decline of 1.7%, according to CoinGecko.
The transfer raises questions about Hansen's intentions and whether this is a sign of increased activity in the market or simply a routine move. As a prominent figure in Bitcoin's early history, his actions are closely watched by the community. The exact reasons behind this transaction remain unclear at this time.
