Bitpanda Fined EUR 70,000 for Late Crypto-Asset White Paper Submission
Bitpanda GmbH has been fined EUR 70,000 (about $81,000) by Austria's Financial Market Authority (FMA) for violating Markets in Crypto-Assets Regulation (MiCAR). The fine is a result of the company's late submission of a crypto-asset white paper and distributing marketing materials before publishing the required disclosure. According to Article 8 of MiCAR, Bitpanda was supposed to send the white paper at least 20 working days before publishing it.
The FMA did not name the specific crypto-asset involved or provide further details about the violations. However, the regulator emphasized that the fine does not concern custody, withdrawals, or Bitpanda's license status. The company had been authorized to provide crypto-asset services in Austria since April 9, 2025.
The FMA also clarified that publication of this case does not give the company or violations any special status, and it is not the first MiCAR fine in the European Union. Earlier penalties involving MiCAR-licensed exchanges were imposed under different regulations, such as anti-money laundering rules.
