Bits of Gold Blocks Data Breach After Unauthorized Access

Share

Israeli cryptocurrency brokerage Bits of Gold announced on August 16 that it had detected and blocked unauthorized access to one of its third-party data-analysis support systems. The firm reported that certain personal information may have been accessed, prompting an immediate response from the company.

The affected system supported analytics and support functions rather than custody or trading systems, according to Bits of Gold. Upon detection, the company took swift action to contain the breach, blocking the connection and disconnecting the affected system.

While some personal information may have been exposed, Bits of Gold assured its customers that digital assets and funds remain safe. The firm also emphasized that customer private keys, full payment card numbers/CVV, account passwords, and ID-document photos were not compromised in the breach.
