Bits of Gold Data Breach Exposes Customer Information

Share

Bits of Gold, an Israeli broker, recently disclosed a data breach that exposed customer personal information. The incident occurred when unauthorized access was made to a supporting analytics system used by the company.

The breach, which was detected on August 16, may have revealed sensitive customer data such as names, national identification numbers, email addresses, phone numbers, IP addresses, bank-account details, and public cryptocurrency wallet addresses. However, the company assured customers that their funds and private keys were not compromised.

Bits of Gold took immediate action to contain the breach by blocking access to the affected system, disconnecting it from its information sources, notifying relevant authorities, and hiring a specialist incident-response firm.

The investigation is ongoing, and the company has warned customers to be cautious of potential phishing attempts. It emphasized that users should not disclose verification codes or transfer money or digital assets in response to unsolicited contact.
