BitSpider Revives Card-Native Crypto POS Plans Following MiCA Authorization
BitSpider has announced plans to revive its card-native crypto point-of-sale system after receiving authorization as a crypto-asset service provider under MiCA in Estonia.
The company's Crypto POS platform, which was initially designed and demonstrated in 2024, enables customers to complete transactions using a tap-and-PIN experience similar to traditional bank cards. This approach eliminates the need for QR code scanning and allows for payments across multiple blockchains and stablecoins, including Bitcoin, Ethereum, and USD Coin.
BitSpider submitted its application for authorization on June 30th, 2026, and has paused new client onboarding pending the decision. If authorized, the company plans to reconsider a return to the point-of-sale market with a focus on its non-custodial, wallet-based payment method, consistent with its non-custodial model.
The BitSpider Crypto POS is built on networks compatible with the Ethereum Virtual Machine (EVM) and combines dedicated all-in-one terminal hardware with a cloud-based merchant management application. It handles transactions in line with PCI DSS standards and adheres to anti-money laundering (AML) and know-your-customer (KYC) requirements.
