Bitwise and Hargreaves Lansdown Bring Crypto ETPs to UK Retail Investors
Bitwise, a prominent crypto asset manager, has partnered with Hargreaves Lansdown to offer Bitcoin and Ethereum exchange-traded products (ETPs) to retail investors in the UK. This move follows the Financial Conduct Authority's (FCA) lifting of its ban on retail access to these types of products in October 2025.
Hargreaves Lansdown, which serves more retail investors than any other platform in Britain, will offer Bitwise's ETPs with a cap on portfolio allocation at 10%. This reflects the FCA's view that crypto should remain a satellite position rather than a core holding.
To sweeten the deal for cost-conscious investors, Bitwise has reduced the Total Expense Ratio (TER) on its Core Bitcoin ETP (BTC1) by 75%, making it one of the cheapest Bitcoin ETPs available in Europe at five basis points.
