Bitwise Closes Strategy ETF as Product Lineup Evolves
Bitwise Asset Management is closing another strategy-based crypto ETF, the Bitwise Trendwise Ethereum and Treasuries Rotation Strategy ETF (AETH), as part of a year-long process of product consolidation. The fund will stop trading on October 2 and be liquidated on October 13, with investors who continue holding shares after trading ends receiving cash based on the fund's net asset value.
The decision to close AETH marks the latest in a series of funds removed by Bitwise this year. In May, the company liquidated the Trendwise BTC/ETH and Treasuries Rotation Strategy ETF (BTOP) and the Bitwise Web3 ETF (BWEB), while six option-income ETFs were closed in August.
Despite the closures, Bitwise continues to expand its product lineup, with a focus on single-asset crypto funds, staking products, and onchain investment strategies. The company has launched several new products recently, including the Bitwise Solana Staking ETF (BSOL), which combines direct SOL exposure with staking.
Bitwise's own portfolios demonstrate its commitment to individual crypto assets rather than rotation structures. As of September 7, its Crypto Asset Portfolio included BITB, ETHW, XRP, BSOL, and CLNK, while its broader Total Crypto Market Portfolio incorporated BITQ for crypto-equity exposure.
