Bitwise Shuts Down Dogecoin ETF After 10-Month Run
A Dogecoin (DOGE) spot exchange-traded fund (ETF), BWOW, launched by Bitwise in November 2025 has decided to shut down. According to a statement from Bitwise, the decision aims to 'optimize its product portfolio to meet evolving investor needs.'
The last trading day for BWOW shares on the NYSE Arca is scheduled for October 14, 2026, and the fund will be fully liquidated on October 22, 2026. Investors who still hold funds after the trading ends on October 14 will receive cash payments based on the net asset value (NAV) calculated as of October 21, 2026.
This closure news is seen as a negative signal for DOGE in terms of institutional demand and adoption. The fund's asset size remained below $1 million during its approximately 10-month operating period, indicating limited investor demand for access to Dogecoin via ETFs.
