Bitwise Shuts Down Dogecoin ETF Citing Changing Investor Demand
Bitwise has announced that it will be shutting down and liquidating BWOW, its Dogecoin spot ETF, approximately 10 months after its launch in November 2025. The decision was made to optimize the company's product portfolio in response to changing investor demand, according to Bitwise's official statement.
The fund's last trading day on the NYSE Arca is scheduled for October 14, 2026, and it will be fully liquidated on October 22, 2026. Investors who still hold funds can expect payments in cash on October 22 based on the net asset value (NAV) calculated as of October 21.
Bitwise has stated that investors do not need to take any further action for this process. The closure news is seen as a negative signal for DOGE in terms of institutional demand and adoption, according to experts. The fund's asset size remained below $1 million, indicating limited investor demand for access to Dogecoin via ETFs.
